Re: 1986 GTV6 Project for sale Canada
Time to bump.Must be someone out there who can see the value in this one.In fact I'd say it's the greatest value ever offered, anywhere. And there's no Russian involvement, maybe a little cold rolled steel !

Re: Desperate for a thermostat housing
I just checked and you can buy pretty cheap from Centerline USA.I'm sure they can deal with international shipping customs etc.

Jim I'm sure your mom is lucky to have you around, I suspect that you're probably "the kind of guy" to have around at moments like that.Hopefully your mother is a tough old bird and kicks some ass to pull her nose up.
Good luck !
Good luck !

KevinR It's interesting to hear that Ethanol is bad for carbs.Does it go after the gaskets and seals ? Here in Canada we're fortunate, Shell Premium is 100% E free, so that's what I run.In my case, I'm injected, I worry more about fuel lines and fittings and mobilizing crud in the good old fuel tank...

Re: What to do re: engine overhaul
BotswanaAlfa when it comes to gaskets my line in the sand is drawn around head gaskets and valve seals.I don't see any details in the Centerline offering visa vi the individual sources of the gaskets and I'd absolutely insist on those details.I've had good experience with Reinz head gaskets, done a b...

Yeah that would be cool ! I'm astounded by how perfect my "defective" Ansa sounds.I have a straight pipe that I install at the track and it's sweet @ >4k, but urban driving it's a bit much.

KevinR what you want to do is get some of the insulation material out of that Ansa. When I was setting up my Megasquirt I blew out a large percentage of the mufflers guts and now it sounds absolutely ideal.Perhaps you can go in through the tailpipes with a grappling tool and yank some out, sounds lik...

Re: Brake issues
Could be the valve but I'm overly suspicious it's the calipers.I checked and you can get a rebuild kit from Centerline Alfa. How complete it is, I can't say.Give them a call and ask.Either that or buy some rebuilt units @ approx.$285 ea.Personally I'm a cheapskate and like to get my hands dirty.

Re: HELP WITH EXHAUST SYSTEM
akilljoy boy another issue eh ! It's all good, just makes you one with your Alfa. Anyway that spacer is, I believe, to drop the "downpipes" to increase clearance for the catalytic convertor.Could be wrong, have been once or twice before :D Suspect you're going to have to buy this spacer fr...

Re: Brake issues
akilljoy I suspect you're up against a rear caliper rebuild/replacement.Obviously you've checked your fluid level and confirmed there's no air in the system ? These rear calipers can be finicky when hydraulics aren't right. They're not your garden variety caliper. If you decide to take on the rebuild ...

Re: Inlet Manifold Design
Yeah I still have a weakness for the first Ford Taurus SHO engine engineered by Yamaha.
I had an 89 and it was an early application of variable length intake runners.Worked extremely well.Don't believe there was any camshaft timing trickery involved.

MR2 Zig Heed JimK's advice on this one.Mismatched teeth will only lead to grief.
Try Continental they have good belts and pretty thorough database.Up here in Canada you can source these through Napa so likely down there too.
