Re: Need help identifying weird part
xrad there is only one of these - pass-side.The end of the piece of hose which this clip supports is just barely visible to the right of the casting which the clip mounts to.

Need help identifying weird part
Guys I'm working on a customer's engine (1981 GTV-6 2.5L) and have run across a part I've never seen before.I'm sure someone knows exactly what it is 8) It is located in the passenger-side cylinder head and it's a plastic clip which supports a plastic/rubber tube which runs down into the block,proba...

Re: Verde cam woodruff keys
xrad why not run them without the keys - perfectly safe, many others have done it in the interest of getting cam timing absolutely spot on.The press fit of the gear assembly on the tapered cam is more than adequate.

Re: Whats the worst JOB on a transaxle ????
Living where I do I would have to agree that rust is miserable, fortunately my GTV6 is from California and sleeps in a dry location until the salt is gone so rust is a minor concern but I'm always on the lookout  Other than that I would say that the nastiest job I've subjected myself to is ...

Re: Milano Verde Has No Spark
Merril pay particular attention to the Hall sensor connection plug on the distributor.I assume you checked the Hall output signal by connecting your voltmeter directly to the pins on the distributor side (blue) of the plug ? The wiring on the connector (white) side of the plug is fragile and needs t...

Re: Clutch fork grease
Bruce for applications like this I've always been happy with the results I get using Mercury outboard marine grease.Sounds funny but this stuff is sticky and hangs around a long time.It resists getting washed away .You can buy it in small tubes wherever they cater to boat people.

Re: Rebuilt V6 - when to re-torque
Mats the owners manual from 1986 states "Check cylinder head nuts for proper torque" @ 1500 miles. To my mind that doesn't describe a proper re-torque procedure but who knows ? The 1200 - 1500 mile number I referred to above is taken from AR Service bulletin no. 88.03 which was issued after...

Re: Rebuilt V6 - when to re-torque
Chris I'm a proponent of not trying to outsmart the Alfa engineers so I religously follow their recommendation of re-torquing @ 1200 - 1500 miles.I've done a few of these and so far no failures.I wouldn't rush to "button her up" and be done with her. There's a lot of expansion/contraction g...

Re: Cream on Oil Cap
Neil the creamy deposits on the filler cap are not a definitive indication of a headgasket problem.Vehicles that are used for short trips in cold weather often have that build up on the cap due to condensation.I would suggest that you clean up the cap and take the car for a good run.Once fully warme...

Re: GTV 6 injector size??
Nissar CORRECTION I made a mistake (very rare - just ask my wife ) The GTV6 2.5L injectors flow 17.5lb/hr not 19.5 as stated before, so that translates to 184 cc/min.

Re: GTV 6 injector size??
Nissar my understanding is that the stock GTV6 2.5L injector flows 19.5 lb./hr.which translates to 205 cc.

Re: Steering rack damper GTV6
I'll agree with Mats on this one.Removal of the damper has zero effect on steering/handling on a GTV6,at least none that I can detect.I presume it was put there to reduce steering kickback on bad surfaces but I don't find this to be a problem on the 116.Ditch it.

SJ sounds like you're having to deal with incompetance on more than one level  Anybody who accepts that it is appropriate to pull a vehicle by running the tow cable the full length of the car and attaching it to the opposite end of the vehicle is going to have difficulty understanding what was...
