Re: GTA2 Cam shimming

Well this thread got a bit of action! Kevin, thanks for the insight. If/when I do this I'll likely do what you did with your 3.7. I had also gone and found those picture last night. Are the shims kind of a cup shape? That's how I'm seeing it when the one is sitting on top of the valve. But in your h...

GTA2 Cam shimming

This one is for the 24V guys. I've got the GTA 2 Cams in my 24V, but they aren't shimmed. I assume that this means my intake valves do not open as much as they should be opening, leading to some power being sapped. Can anyone tell me how much the valves need to be shimmed? Or if it's not a given num...

Re: Gotech ProX power issue

I've got the 24V in there already. Doing some final bits and pieces and then I'll hopefully just be driving it around and enjoying it. It's probably a good idea to do the 12V distributorless when you switch to a different ECU, but since you want to drop in a 24V you'll have to do some of the work tw...

Re: Gotech ProX power issue

Zamani, I'm in between that one. I'm going to be running full sequential. That was the original idea. These will likely just be the stock COPs, but I'm looking into what other ones might fit, with just the change of a connector. Some early e36 COP look promising. Right now I've got the VR6 Coil Pack...

Re: Gotech ProX power issue

The issue was that the RPM signal wire was getting power.
I found it when I went through and traced all of the wires on the Gotech connectors.

Re: Gotech ProX power issue

I figure I should reply to this now,

I found the issue. The car has been ran now with the Gotech setup and it works great.

Thanks.

Re: 3.7 24v Build in 116 GTV

Hey Kevin, The build looks great! I was wondering what is going on with your front 'guibo?' Is that just a casing and a guibo is in there or whats happening? Also I wouldn't mind hearing about how to secure the oil pump drive well. PM me if you don't want to tell everyone. I'd rather not lose my oil...

Re: Gotech ProX power issue

Furthermore: Trying to get to the bottom of this one. I hooked the Gotech direct to ignition, no relay, through #12 on the fusebox. With the Gotech hooked up this way I could turn it on, take my key out of the ignition and it would not turn anything off. Found a different ignition, connected that to...

Re: Gotech ProX power issue

Or should I be going like this Vr6 one?

After looking at all of the wiring here I've decided that I've got the same setup, except my wiring harness has different colors, confusing.

Gotech ProX power issue

I've got a weird one here. I installed ProX in my Verde, and upon turning the ignition key to 'acc' it wont allow me to shut off my ignition. I can pull the key out of there and it will stay on. The gotech is getting power through a fused and relayed setup. Power for relay switching comes from the i...

Alright, never mind....easiest seal out of all the seals. Gear locked with ease, pulled right off, took one screw in the seal to pull it out.

I took off my mechanical tensioner, and i found out the external spring has broken, thank god i didnt run the engine.

Distrib/Oil pump pulley pulling.

undertaking the third part of this 'seal replacement', what size of bolts are needed to be used to go into the two holes of the pulley in order to pull it? (hopefully not 7mm  ) Do you even need a puller to get this one off? how do you guys recommend to take the bolt off? old timing belt tric...

Alright, thats what we did for the crank, and we drilled in two screws for this one so far, and both broke off inside, which kind sucks.

I'll go get some sheet metal screws, that might be my problem.
Thanks

Cam seal pulling

Having just gotten one cam pulley off, im trying to figure out ways to get the seal out.
Whats the best way?
A guy at Ital motors in edmonton recommended using a seal puller and heating up the seal.
Any other ideas?
