Re: PowerMods911 - GTV6 2.5 TT - Race Car
all Ok. Thanks guys, yes the transition form back wheel drive to front wheel drive is not that easy. 1st time out with the car and doing shake down. Well I did get a shake down at sunset on the 1st lap. Using rear wheel technique of taking power off to controll back end DOES NOT work on front wheel ...

Kevin
I've gone for a more natural look. This guy really draws the crowds, got a bit worried after 2 hours not a single lady had come to chat to him, but boy or boy he had the boys rolling in.

Re: PowerMods911 - GTV6 2.5 TT - Race Car
Kevin, that power slide came about by late braking and gearing into 2 gear too early and locking up the rear. I've become quite good at locking up the rear when changing down into the corners. The likes of Guiseppe have seen me fighting to keep it on the track, in fact he had a vidoe on me in that s...

Wolfgang, like yourself I'm also diung this as a hobby so I understand.
The mod I'm interetsed in is the water pump and theromstat housing to get the clearance past the pulleys and belt.
Your pictures are great as it show me what I need to look out for and do.

Wolfgang, I need to do the exact modification on the 166 motor I'm building for my race car. I'd like to copy your idea. Any chance of sending me dimensions or even better manufacturing the mod for me
.
Pity you so far away the transport costs will be very expensive.

Re: PowerMods911 - GTV6 2.5 TT - Race Car
Our 1st race for the year at Zwarkops after a break of 4 months. This was major fun, and finally the rain stayed away and we had an excellent day............ Qualification was extremely cold and overcast were kept looking for signs of rain but it stayed away. Did 4 good laps, the next 3 were hampere...

Re: PowerMods911 - GTV6 2.5 TT - Race Car
Kevin, yes after the fire I did replace the kill switch with the heavy duty type. Which turns out not to be able to handle the weather elements. You absolutely spot on my gearing is way too long. I clocked a top speed of 181.8 kms in 3rd gear  in the back straight as we approached turn 4. W...

Re: PowerMods911 - GTV6 2.5 TT - Race Car
Zwarkops 30 Nov was our last race for the season and i was determined to race in the 2 heats, having to sit out 1 of the heats due to rain or mechanical failure was getting the better of me. The sh1t hit the fan when I wanted to off load the car, it wouldn't start. Here we go again I thought, determ...

Re: PowerMods911 - GTV6 2.5 TT - Race Car
Finally got the 2.5TT on the track for the week ends race at Kyalami. Wasn't too sure what lap times to expect out of the 2.5 engine vs. the last outing with the 2.8. Well, their was a notable drop in torque and acceleration out of the corners. But boy, when she got onto song from 4000rpm onwards sh...

Re: An original GTV6 3.0 entry into SA Marque car category
Guiseppe, that is some serious speed on the back straight. The fastsest I've recorded is 169km.
Oddly enough on my fastest lap it is was 159km.
And on my lastest outing following the sud it was 146km.

Re: GTV6 2.5 -Street Legal Track Car
Thanks Mats, I'd noticed it was signifcantly higher and had measured a about a 70mm, but with the front spoiler on, 50mm is probably the safer and mor practical way to go for road use.

Re: GTV6 2.5 -Street Legal Track Car
Now we can have a proper view of the look of the car with the different rim set up.
The family prefers the look of the 17". What's the verdict?
For track days I'll certainly be sticking to the 16", they've been widened to take 265 rubber.

Re: GTV6 2.5 -Street Legal Track Car
Kevin, the 16" currently have 245 street rubber on, but needs to be 265 to fit snuggly onto the rim. If i recall I've seen 265 semi's the question is are they avialble in 16" in RSA. Guiseppe, have fun, life is already too serious. I battle to get wheel spin in 1st........ with the 330 rub...
