Smokeless Engine Oil

Hi, Like to know if someone has tried this oil that claims to eliminate smoking due to oil burning! The link is: http://members.aol.com/FHSoil/SmokeLess.html Apparently it is some pure synthetic oil that burns with very low or no smoke. The venerable machine has recently developed a slight smoking h...

I have heard it's possible to remove the heads by dropping the engine and tilting it forward for the head to clear the servo. To do this, you will need to drop the propshaft, engine mounts, radiator to create more room for movement. Anyone tried this method? To me both are tough...figure out which i...

Yes, I did the R&R too and found out that the new bushes supplied are slightly smaller(radial) so I had to play with the front adjustment nut and correct the caster angle with the caster rod. Believe me, the mechanic at the local Alfa workshop called me up to find out how to assemble the new bus...

Thanks for the opinions... Dave: Sorry, I could have been clearer....nope, I plugged the hose to the intake accordion hose. The outlet(to the accordion hose) from the oil separator is left open to the atmosphere. Maybe a separate oil catch tank is the solution. But so far, there hasnt been any smoki...

Crankcase Ventilation Valve (PCV)

I have recently discovered that there is quite a lot of oil in the intake accordion hose and which is burnt in the engine, giving off some smoke in the tailpipe. The smoking stopped after plugging the hose(to the oil trap at the cam cover). It seems like there is too much vacuum in the crankcase, su...

Dat's a great picture. I suppose those lugs linked together by the 3-prong spider is not likely to flare...it's the other 3 lugs that are apparelty held together by rubber in a floating manner. Quite apparent from the rubber cracks developed at the flanges of the spider. Curious how long does the fr...

Maybe I should add some comments on Total Seal gapless rings. I have them in my re-built 2.5V6 engine and its done 60,000km now. Brillant rings, compression was excellent. Oil consumption is about a liter every 5K. This is using 20W50 mineral oil. Engine oil was hardly contaminated (light tan color)...
