Hi.
Cold or hot engine?
Sounds like an issue with the ignition timing.
Try rotating the distributor a gnats knacker either way but mark-up beforehand.
On L-jet cars I always disconnect the cold starter injector anyway.

Re: Rebuilt V6 engine oil priming.
Why don't you spin it on the starter with the coil disconnected?

Re: '92 3.0 valve guides
I didn't change them, just changed the valve seals, cleaned the valves up and lapped them in.
I would suggest you take the heads to a machine shop and at the same time have 1mm off them to give you a bump in power - I've taken 1.5m (standard v6) and 1.1mm (QV) and use 95 RON with no issues.

Re: '92 3.0 valve guides
Early V6's had smokey engines due to guides, which I presumed was due to bronze guides.

'92 3.0 valve guides
I'm confused. I've taken the heads off to replace leaking head-gaskets. Now, I was expecting to find steel valve guides but they appear to be bronze/bronze coloured. I also have an old 75 head and that's the same too. I assumed, maybe wrongly, steel was the way to go. Were early smoky 3.0 litre engi...

Re: GTV6 / 75 gearbox mounts
In my experience, the propshaft (driveshaft) has be pretty fuXXed up to cause vibration issues. Try jacking up the bell housing a-bit-at-a-time to see if it elevates the problem. Also, do this - loosen all propshaft coupling bolts including the centre bearing support, tighten up rear coupling first,...

Engine mounts
I can feel an engine vibration at idle (V6). Can't remember if it always had one, but mounts possibly want changing (130k miles). Anyone had success using other types of mounts?

Re: introducing myself
That's so $hit man. I understand Barry knows knows his stuff - question, did he recommend an ECU and provide software?
I know nothing of the "professional" tuning scene and surprised you had so many problems.

The cat's pi$$
I often see a black Ferrari (new) California. It has a very loud exhaust, don't know if it's standard but sounds like a $hitty cherry-bomb with bits of the exhaust system missing. Can't hear the engine at all, and God knows what it sounds like inside. Most bizarrely, I have seen three McLaren MP4-12...

Re: Alignment Engine-Gearbox
Loosen everything including the centre hanger, rev a few times, tighten rear one first, then pinch bolt and then hanger. Make sure the rear coupling in flush with the yoke. What I have also noticed is bolts that are too tight will also cause vibration.

Re: Alignment Engine-Gearbox
From my experience, the propshaft can run quite smoothly even in an appalling condition. Front had a missing section, rear was starting to split, and centre hanger bearing spilt. Nevertheless, it was smooth. When I changed the couplings, I was brutal with the removal, split the propshaft a few times...
