Re: GTV-6 door swap

Thanks for the info MD. Unfortunately, "The Dukes of Hazard" never brushed off on me and I've maintained using the door  It's probably a little worn. The hinges are completely removed so I'll experiment with different sized roll pins.

Best,

Jason

Re: GTV-6 door swap

Has anyone had any luck sourcing OEM hinge pins? If not, what was your alternative? I need to put the doors back on (gtv6) and would like to mitigate the inevitable day spent driving to every hardware store in town looking for something suitable.

Best,

Unfortunately, the bumper is lop-sided. There's also a large impression or dent on the pass. side rear quarter panel where the bumper mounts to the side of the body; I can only assume that happened at the same time the mount was bent (happened before i purchased the car) Oh well. Looks like I'll hav...

You have to search through the thread but the dyno results showed a 7.1 hp gain without the muffler on Michael's 3.0!

I don't have any hard data, but I've been involved with recording the audio for a bunch of cars on a dyno for a video game. We often do power-pulls with the muffler both on and off. The most HP gain I've seen with the muffler off is around 5 hp. I think Michael might actually have posted some dyno s...

Yeah, well the subject line was supposed to be sarcastic. Specifically, is this fix outside of the do-it-yourselfer? If so, what would I expect a body shop to charge? What steps does a body shop take to fix something like this? I'm not shooting for an immaculate body restoration, just something not ...

Is this supposed to be bent?

Not likely. The picture labeled 'Bent mount' is the passenger side rear bumper mount on an '85 gtv6 (US model). The 4x4 below is square with the wheelbase to show the, um, bentness. The other pic shows the driver side mount (not bent). Has anyone had to fix this before and how involved i$ it? Is it ...

Towing a GTV6 with a car dolly

Hello,

Is it safe for the transaxle to tow a gtv6 with a car dolly for about 30 miles. The car dolly suspends the front wheels while the rears roll upon the road. I assume if you keep it in neutral it should be OK??? Thanks in advance.

Saracene - First, I assume you have purchased new bearings and hub seals. You will need to remove the old hub seals and bearing races. The hub seals are easy - drill a small hole in the middle of the edge of the seal being careful not to drill into the hub; then, screw a small sheet metal screw half...

Steering rack boot???

Hi Everybody, I can't figure out how to remove the old steering rack boot on the passenger side of my '85 GTV6. There appears to be a large lock tab holding a metal flange in place where the inner ball joint is. I don't have an extra lock tab and don't want to start hammering away at things if this ...
