Re: Supercharged 12V/Stratos copy/engine tech type stuff

Minor update - managed to get the car out on the road yesterday to bed the rings. Feels strong and revs like a good 'un. Many thanks to Greg for his help and advice...and those nice Venolia pistons, and to Richard J for the custom cams. Off-boost performance is excellent - I'm hard put to say it fee...

Re: Supercharged 12V/Stratos copy/engine tech type stuff

Chris amazing photos...the first one is a great pic whilst on the move, love it! Once its all sorted your going to have a wicked ride. :D A very talented snapper indeed. He does some very high-profile jobs as well as the more modest petrol-head publications. A group of us from the Stratos Enthusias...

Oh well, guess i'll get stuck into the GTV and then figure out a way to make some room for a Strat kit!

Go on...get busy. You know it makes (no) sense!

Re: Supercharged 12V/Stratos copy/engine tech type stuff

Have to say I got some really great photos out of the magazine shoot. It was almost worth the agro the blown head gasket and having to come home on the back of a recovery truck. As I mentioned, all the good ones are copyright James Lipman, but he's given me the OK top put low-res copies up on this s...

Re: Supercharged 12V/Stratos copy/engine tech type stuff

Oooh, questions :) The 24V manifold trick worked out really well. They clear all the accessories (alternator, A/C compressor, starter) no problem and I was able to bring the output flanges to a place that suited me better as well (tighter to the block than normal). By re-using the small pillars I wa...

Supercharged 12V/Stratos copy/engine tech type stuff

Given a couple of you chaps have asked, I'll start this topic on my current project. To save sending you off to the other threads, a quick intro to it. Lancia Stratos copy. It's a UK kit car, originally a Litton, then CAE, now Napiersport Corse. It has strut rear suspension, wishbone front. Chassis ...

Re: In the build...? Anything new being done..?

Don't worry about it Jules - I repeat myself so much at times even I get sick of listening ;) I'll start a new thread then. Not quite sure where it should go..probably performance. There is an air/water cooler grafted into the inlet plenum. I'll post up some pics in teh new thread and leave this one...

Re: In the build...? Anything new being done..?

I'm not good with compliments, and I don't normally do 'proud', but I have to confess that the one thing I am fairly pleased about is the interior - apart from the seats which are Sparco, every single bit of trim and finish inside the car is my own work. I bought a used sewing machine and got stuck ...

Re: In the build...? Anything new being done..?

Cheers for that Garth, I'll carry on then! As far as opting for a copy of the Stratos, like so many folk who go this way, I have amazing memories of watching them compete in rallying, coupled with the fact that they looked like UFOs back in the 70s and still do even now. This particular one was kind...

Re: In the build...? Anything new being done..?

It's 'the other replica'. When this chassis was first made, it was called a CAE Corse, previously it was Litton, subsequently it's Napiersport. Who knows where next! I acquired what was left of the kit back in '99. Took 6 years to build it and got it road-legal in early 2005. It's on engine #4 now.....

Re: In the build...? Anything new being done..?

Not an Alfa, but an Alfa engine at least.... Finished installing the new LC motor ready to bed the cams & rings then put a few miles on it aspirated, prior to fitting the rebuilt M90 blower and getting it on the rollers. All went well as far as bedding the cams went, but now I have a problem wit...

Re: Supercharging a 12 valve - 164 or 164S?

Hi Mats, Well, I was thinking I'd keep the pointless chat offline at least! I did reckon on posting the results from my new engine build once it's finally done though, as that is verging on the relevent! Greg's contributed a lot to it as well so it will be nice to get a good result. Hope to get it i...
