Radiator & Thermostat out. Anything else I should do now?

Hey guys, I've had my GTV6 since 2003 and used is as a daily in the early years. After a few years it would sometimes run really hot, even boiling over on a few occasions. To solve this I hardwired the fans to a switch on the dash so I could turn them on whenever I was doing under about 50kph. I'm n...

Re: ACTUAL budget race GTV6... suggestions?

Thanks MD, Yeah I plan on doing the work myself. At the moment this car is my daily driver (i use the term loosely, I only need to drive once or twice a week), but in the next year I should have something else to use for day-to-day, which will allow me to get a bit more serious as I'll have a bit mo...

Re: ACTUAL budget race GTV6... suggestions?

Hahaha, too true guys! I don't want to deck it out as a full on racer, just get a good start in the right direction and go from there. I've read a fair few of everyone's project builds and can see all too well the addiction of which you speak! Once i get the suspension and tyres sorted, I'm going to...

Re: ACTUAL budget race GTV6... suggestions?

Hi MR2, Yeah I first saw his site some years back (I think when it was at the oldebottles page), and have recently found his new one. Good tips indeed, certainly a couple of FREE horsepower is delightful! Even though he is in the US, it gives some good ideas for things I might be able to rig up myse...

Shuddering up to 1500rpm then fine??? - any help appreciated

Ok, I have some un-educated ideas but thought some of you may be able shed some light... Here are the symptoms: I get a nice shudder/thumping from somewhere in the drivetrain when I'm in between about 1000 and 1500 and under load. It happens in all gears, but disappears above 1500 and behaves like i...

Re: GTV6 in Sydney, Australia

Here's a pic, plus some rust spots.
The rust is.... Driver's side (RHD) 1/4 pannel, boot-lid (which I will hopefully replace, maybe cheaper than fixing!) and below left-rear tail-light.

ACTUAL budget race GTV6... suggestions?

Hey guys, New to the forum, but have owned my GTV6 for 7 years now, and am just taking over doing the work myself now (too poor to pay someone else, plus its a lot more fun that way ). I will state my intentions very clearly (or at least as clearly as my ADHD will allow me to! ). I want...

GTV6 in Sydney, Australia

G'day all, My name's Lachlan and I've had my GTV6 for 7 years now. It was my first car and I got it when I was 17 (lucky me!) as a two-owner car with lovely red paint, "no rust" and that beautiful sound. I've had 3 or four cars since then and each time I got another one the understanding w...
