Electronic Water Pumps
Does anyone have a electric water pump that replaces the old mechanical water pump..? I was thinking about putting one in when rebuild starts, for apparently they offer more performance, well dont rob as much power as a mech one...?
Selling 1985 GTV6.
Ecu and injectors, lightened.....plays music.
I've argued this back and forth with myself but I can't decide without testing what is the best solution. Obvoiusly the pump needs to be turning very fast when on full throttle because then you need maximum cooling so you might not gain anything. On the other hand all the mech ones are probably designed for maximum cooling at lower rpms so at race rpm they have a lot of over capacity or even cavitates...
I can tell you one thing though, a buddy had a weird over heating problem in his race car a couple of weeks back, EWP and so on. Only found the cause after he returned home, the alternator was shot. Didn't deliver as much power as needed to turn the pump fast enough, only almost fast enough.
