I'm currently converting my GTV6 to 24V with a 164 Q4 engine, for pictures see
my introduction on this forum:

or my web page:

I plan to use the ECU and harness from the 164 to get is as standard it could be regarding the engine and control of it.
However now I have connected eveything (I hope) and I cannot get it to start.
It seems that I'm not getting ground from the ECU to the fuel pump relay and nor I'm I getting current or pulse to the ignition modules.
When I hotwire the ground to the fule pump relay and crank the starter I get fuel into the cylinders but no spark.
I'm afraid it has to do with the immobilizer but I have tried to bypass it in different ways since I havent got the alarm box.
Any suggestions will be very appreciated!
I know that it can be a bit odd to talk about bypassing the immobilizer on an open forum but if so don't hesitate to send me a message so we can discuss it offline.
in the early models of the 164 there was a box (TRWSipea) in the trunk, remove the connector and short puprple with purple/black....that will disable the immobilizer...
the late models of the 164 had the immobilizer biult-in in the ecu (with a yellow box near the starter lock), there isn't a cheap/simple way to bypass it...but you can order an eeprom from www.schepers-autotechniek.com to disable the immpobilizer...
hope this helps and you understand my english

Now I have checked and I have the ECU without immobilizer: 0 261 203 301
However I don't have the part of the harness that goes to the box in the trunk. The only connection to the alarm / immobilizer I can find is one cable connected to pin 66 of the ECU. It's yellow / black and you can see it marked with (B) on the picture.
According to the ECU pinouts in 164 Q4 technical bulletin it's "signal für alarmanlage".
I have both tried to leave it unconnected, ground it and connect it to current (through a 1A fuse) with the same result; no spark.

The problem is solved and the engine has started
How did I solve it?
Well, as I wrote earlier I noticed that I didn't got current to the ignition modules.
First I assumed that it had to do with the immobilizer but a deeper look into the electrical schematics showed me that I had missed to connect that pin in one coupling.
However then I got spark but it didn't start anyway so the error searching continued.
I was just ready to give up one night when I thought I should crank it at least one time that evening.
Then it started immediately
After that I have started to sort out my temporary wirings and it seems that it don't need any connection at all regarding to the immobilizer and my problem with missing ground on pin 1 from the ECU is also gone.

Matfo,
Congrats! That EFI is excellent I think, hot film MAF right?
BTW, I saw some of the photos of your engine at alfapower.nu . How many miles does your engine have? Did you just use the same front cover (the cover behind the crank pulley) ?
Also, didn't your refurbish anything while doing the transplant, like main or rod bearings? Just curious.

Thanks! Sorry for the late reply but I've been very busy to get it all togeheter to our race the 30 of June.Zamani wrote:Matfo,

I got it all together and now it runs really nice.
The power enhancement is brutal
Yes its a hot film MAF along with sequential ignition and injection.
The engine has travelled about 15000 km and I only changed the cambelt while doing the conversion.
Due to lack of time I used the 24V front cover.
However it wasn't easy to get it sealed to the 12V oilpan but it seems that I got it to work.
