Greg Gordon wrote:Nick may very well be right. I ONLY used Magnacores with SDS. I have no idea how they work on a stock motor. I do know that the stock wires will not work with SDS.

It might be a good idea to call Magnacore and ask them about issues with the stock setup.
Maybe they have different types of wire? A high resistance type to shield from EMP/Radio problems?

Garth, go to the Magnecor website. There is a PDF catalogue on line that has the part # for the GTV6, you can get a couple of different versions i.e: road / race, so 7mm, 8mm etc. I had to order mine through the Sydney agent and they made them up. They cost me a bit over $200.00 new, as did the original style copper cores that I replaced them with. www.magnecor.com

An alfa specialist here in Sydney also warns againts their use with regard to problems with the spark amplifier (that's the strange silver box near the coil if you didn't already know) I have seen lots of them used on GTV6's around the world and I haven't heard of problems with any of them. Just bear in mind if the problem only occurs on Aust delivery cars then you are taking a $200 gamble.

Don't be too quick to believe all that these Yanks tell you... After all they live in the USA and are a little confused.lol

Greg,

Is the black silicon hose without auxilliary pipes for the breather hoses etc?

No, it's just a silicone elbow, it doesn't have any ports.

Nick are you serious...?

If it wasnt for what you call yanks, this discussion would not be happening.
I would not be typing on a keyboard right now...

Maybe i've just taken you the wrong way, its just text after all... :?

While I am sure Nicholas' point was mostly tounge in cheek, the U.S. probably does lead the world in "snake oil" performance automotive products.

For example: the turbonator air intake thingy, magnetic fuel system implants that are supposed to improve performance and economy, water injection systems for fuel economy, and the list goes on. Just flip to the classified section in popular mechanics to find this stuff. The irony is that Popular Mechanics did an article proving none of it works.

Anyway, Magnacore is an honest outfit, and does make a top notch product. That doesn't mean it will work on all vehicles, I don't know about that, just about the application I used them on.

Garth, mate.. come on dude. sense of humour.. do you have one?

Did you read the lol

What's with sucking up to the Sepos. I don't think your confession of unceasing love and admiration toward them will encourage any of them to come to Aus and rebuild your car for you.

Lighten up mate... the badge is faded.

This is a great site and forum but I think all info should be taken with a pinch of salt.

hrmm, now this is interesting.... does the US constitution apply to aussies on an US website - does the jurisdiction reach that far?

is it the medium or the place of dissemination that counts?

us aussies don't have the freedom of (all) speech, but the high court has implied a freedom of political speech in order to give effect to our constitutional provisions that parliament should be freely and 'directly' elected by the people..

doesn't cover alfas i'm afraid...

ANYWAYS.. garth if u end up ordering one from Greg, would u allow me to piggy back an order? save on some shipping me thinks...

so greg, just get an exhaust shop to weld on some bungs on a straight 3" pipe and that'll do for the whole intake (no afm) in the alternative, how much for shipping one of these to aus? does it come w/ clamps?

Posted: Fri May 18, 2007 11:12 pm
by Greg Gordon
Well, I suppose it could come with whatever you want as I offer two entire intake systems. One is for non AFM cars. If you want an intake system less the filter for a non AFM car, I can do that.

I can sell T-Bolt clamps. I don't like to put prices on the forum because the forum can't adjust for inflation and these threads last a long time. Our price on the clamps is the same as Summit's.

Normally I try to avoid political discussions on the internet. One of our country's founding fathers, Benjamin Franklin was once asked why he wouldn't enter a public debate. He answered "because they never change anyone's mind, but they frequently lead to duals". Anyway, old Ben would have said that an Australian on a U.S. forum would have the right to free speech. He considered this and the other constitutional rights "inalienable" rights all people are born with, and not right granted by any government.

Nick what are you on about?

Badge faded...? No shit, why dont you read thread properly...?

You didnt read thread obviously...

As for sense of humour, again, read threads properly, if you havent seen the humour in any of my posts, and for that matter what i wrote underneath the post in question, then you dont have a humourous bone in your body, so relax and as for asking a question like that, makes you look stupid.

Lol, yeah i saw it

Sepo's huh...? Undying love, are you on crack or what...?

I think you need to lighten up, thankyou.

:!: Joey-Yeah for sure, no worries about that, i havent heard from Greg yet in regards to prices, still waiting on email...? Greg did you get my mail addy..?

I have not checked my emails because I am in Mexico and it´s sort of pain in the butt to check it down here. They use a totally different keyboard with no "at" symbol on it.

It might be better to email my wife, she can give you a shipping quote and get the stuff out to you right away. I can´t do much until I get home later this week. Here email is misty at hiperformancestore dot com
