Now you're talking Mats.

I have always liked the 228.

Anyway, the 155 DTM engine, what is it derived from?

derived from nothing. its was designed and built fresh, specifically for the DTM, has nothing in common with the alfa 24v road engine either really, asides from having 24valves..

Jim glad to see your still as sick as the rest of us with the Alfa virus, worse than HIV I believe. I would love that DTM motor in a GTV6.

lol one of my motivating reasons for owning a GTV or GTV6 for most of my adult life,is that it is NOT a family car. 8) I see some poor bastard in an MPV I think "The living dead."

What is a DTM engine? It looks great. Cann't read the HP. Does it put out 425 hp?

Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the information. It is safe to assume that this is the top of the line racing alfa. Better than the SA 3.7 cars?

It's in a whole different league. By far the meanest competition Alfas ever, way, WAY over the latest ETCC cars for instance.

-2.5 liter engine built from the ground up revving 12K (or so, not entierly sure, some say 14k...) 425Hp
-4WD
-Totally remade chassis
-Aerodynamics, very complex high downforce.

Development cost per year was surely around F1 money...

And that's why FIAT decided to cut funding. They claimed that for budgets equal of F1, DTM is not prestigious enough, so they chose ferrari go with their F1 team only.
Too bad it's most likely the last race worthy alfa...

If that is true it may translate into selling more Ferraris but is it going to mean more Alfa sales?

I mean would you buy a Ford because a Volvo won some meaningful race?

Yes it saves money but Alfa need to be at the pointy end in something to bring attention to itself as an ongoing maker to be reckoned with and not just live on history alone don't you think?

No need to tell me MD. I hate the direction PR / Management shitheads at alfa are heading for years. Recently we ended up with cars that are just PRETTY. Pretty and female oriented. Pretty and without balls. But the guys who designed these cars, raced it, enginerred it 20 and more years ago had balls of size equal to Jovian moons.
"And yes we have some nice history especially racing bla bla bla, BY THE way have you seen our new MiTo, your wife/lover/GF's gonna love it! Or check out the 159, comfy ride, with our superb diesel engines. Of course in black/gray. Who buys red alfas now, it's passe" pretty much sums it up as it is now. Sentence with red, is real life, I heard it personally at alfa dealership  Just to illustrate how biased the new alfa direction is; recently I bought a magazine, just for a 16 - page sponsored alfa article. Of course you have shitloads about Q2, Q4 diesel engines, 159, MiTo, electronic stuff safety, bit of design. And here's about sport. Here's what they written about alfas sporting histroy:
Two tiny collumns on the left page in a 16 page article...
Superb enginerring design, racing victories, is what MADE this make for 80 or so years. What better advertising there may be? Ok now I'm gonna run down to my basement and cry in a dark corner

Damn right Pete. But you know, sort of makes me happy. Everytime a Mito of other jelly bunny mould Alfa comes off the production line, it just puts the price of my GTV6 up cause real Alfas are getting more scarce by the day !

If you got any rear wheel drive Alfa today, look after it , preserve it, restore it cause one day it will be worth bucks I feel (if we are still using petrol of course).

In some ways this is Alfa's 924 VS 911 Proche argument where the 911 boys don't recognise the 924 as a real Porche but off course it is. Much the same where front wheel drive goes for Alfas VS rear wheel drives. Like Porche off course, many would not agree but nevertheless there is a majority camp I am sure for both cases.

The thing is, the 924 is out of production..

...Alfa front wheel drive is in full production..mmm??
