Hello,

Last weekend we had the SSAR at our Zandvoort racetrack. this is an annual event which covers an entire weekend. This year the theme was 90 years of Zagato and there were lots of Zagato cars present, other brands with Zagato bodies were also invited. The RZ/SZ were very well represented, i believe they were going for a recordattempt.

Over the weekend there was also a race from the Squadra Italia class ( "budget" class for Italian racecars) combined with the Alfa Romeo Challenge ( " higher budget"). On Sunday there was a one hour race with a starting field of about 50 cars. this included many 75's, 105 series, an SZ, a 155 STW and many others.

It's a great happening every year and we always look forward to it. There are also quite a few foreigners who come over especially for this event. we had visitors from belgium, Germany, Switzerland, the UK, France and some other countries i might have forgotten.

There was also an option to drive the circuit with your car or to follow a Grip & Slip training on a separate piece of track, this is great fun!

That's indeed a great event. I've been following it for past wew years... Each year we promise ourselves to come and wisit but as usual when more than 8 men plan on going somewhere together, it ends up wit "we really need to go there" every year

Giuliettaevo2, as viewed from America it seems that of all the European nations the Dutch seem to love Alfas the most, perhaps even more than the Italians!

Is this your (perhaps biased!) observation? Is this well known but we American are too far away to get a good look at the European scene?

Perhaps a new Off Topic thread is in order: Which nation loves Alfas the most?

Maldi, you could be quite right...

I think there are quite a lot of Alfisti in Holland. The Alfa owner is also not to be categorized into one group of people, there are many different sorts of people that own and love Alfa's. The 156 also has a big following here, not only the older models.

At the SSAR you can see the wide diversity in owners very good, everybody is united in their love for the Alfa's, no matter if they arrive in a rusty old 33 or a shiny 8C Competizione. The races ad another exciting element to the meeting, especially since there are also foreign entries at the races which can surprise the others by their speed/presence.

Based upon the aftermarket innovation I am seeing on the net, I would have to agree that the Dutch are very passionate about Alfas and making them go better and faster. This means some serious bucks, applied engineering and commitment. It's all there.

Not to say others aren't doing anything it's just that the Dutch seem to me to rise to the top like cream in milk..

Spettacolo Sportivo is on the alfisiti "at least ones in a lifetime to do list" along with the nurburgring


Enjoyed myself very.
There is for every level of experience and/or budget track time available ....

R888? How are they? I have Advan A-048, weird wear characteristics, the middle part wears down quickly away, even when not over inflated. I might switch to R888 soon.

Yes R888, these were overinflated
But I can't compare to other tires, I haven't used anything else but toyo's (trampio R08 + R888).
The grip level is very high and the price is good, always have used them on the nurburgring.

But Zandvoort was a completely different story. The shorter (and safer wrt n'ring) track really invites you to push & battle with cars that have the same paste.
Had a lot of fun with guys who really know the track very well in 105's and some 155's (with less experience) but both with more power. I had the advantage of a higher corner speed on both of the type cars. Which gives an interesting battle

These tires are more then a year old (~110 laps N'ring + driving public road home vs N'ring ) but are for sure better then used slicks

The wear of a 30 min session on Zandvoort is a lot more then a good day (~15 laps) N'ring.
On the other hand, you never push that hard on the N'ring not the place to go to/over the edge.
