Headlight Switch Rivets

Post by powderhoundcd »

Hey guys,

My headlight switch was broken, the stalk came out and the electrical contacts were mangled. I've managed to repair most of it (I think), but I need to find a way to hold the two parts of the housing together.

I read on the AlfaBB that you can use a small piece of copper tube to replace the original rivet, but I was looking for something that was a little bit more practical and wouldn't have to be replaced if I ever took the housing apart again.

I looked at the local hardware store, and didn't find any bolts that would fit in the holes (either the head or the nuts were too big).

Any suggestions? So far, I'm thinking maybe zip ties, though that would be VERY unsightly IMO.

Thanks a ton!

Well,
I couldn't figure anything else out, so I used some small black zip ties, and it worked very well. They don't look as nice as the original rivets of course, but with the covers on, you can't see it.
