Niclas Rosengren (Sweden)

Post by Niclas »

Hi !
I have been a member in this forum for a while but not posted anything until today.

I currently have 2 Alfa based on the 116-chassi.

One 1988 75 (Milano) with 3,0 12valve engine. This car is a pure race car and it goes in the Swedish Alfa Challenge serie.
The car is heavily modified (chassi, engine, etc). I have had this car since 1996 and it has over the years been more and more modified to a real race car.

I have 228 hp (6500 rpm) and 269 Nm (between 4000-6000 rpm) on the wheel. This was measured on a Rototest equipment in Mars.
Race weight of the car is around 915 kg (without driver)
On saturday this week we will have our first race for the season.

Here are some picture of the racecar

I also have an SZ from 1991
This car is mostly original. Chassi is a litte tuned up and it has perfomance cams (Cat Cams stage 2).

If you have any questions about me and my cars feel free to contact me.
I will try to be more active in this forum from now on.

And by the way, Yes I know Mats.

Hi Niclas

You have two great cars there mate.
Would like to hear more about how you have achieved a very impressive 228 hp at the wheels in your 75.
I have got similar power at the wheels on my GTV6 but it is a 3.3 12v.

Hi John !

My race engine have C&B corsacams lift 11,2 mm (intake) and 306 degree duration.
Wössner pistons with 12:1 compression ratio, Porting have I done myself, 41 mm intake (modified original plenum), Modified CSC exhaust system. Nira (Swedish) fuel&ignition management system. Siemens injectors 352 cc.
Valves (both intake and exhaust) are original.

Great looking racer! Very impressive (low) weight for a V6! Anything particular (beyong just gutting relentlessly) that you did to achieve that? Do you by any chance have the corner weights as well? I'm also curious about the engine support/restraint that attaches to the area where the ground strap usually goes on the engine and goes to the location of the battery tray area. Is is solid, flexible, ...?

I was going to ask the same question about the weight reduction especially with a V6 engine but Jes beat me to it. Chrome- Molly cage perhaps?
...as for the torque reaction restraint, I have seen them in the engine centre above the engine mounts and tied to the suspension channel inside the guard. Either way, should do the job and obviously does.

I was doing my "Investigating Reporter" routine last Saturday and shot quite a lot of video, there will be a film available once I have the time to edit something together.
It (the engine) sang beautifully btw. :D

Mats, as soon as you have time, please post a film here. As I was on pole both races I noticed that you was shooting the start with your video.
From my GPS data I could after race read that I made 0-100 km/h in 5,26 sekunds in the start.

From my view both races was rather easy. I scored best time in qualification. Race 1 I had a Alfa 164 turbo behind me but I was much quicker than him so I could easily control the race. In race 2 I had another Alfa 75 V6 behind me and during this race I had to focus a lot more. He never got close enough so I started the season with a doubble win.

I have had the Car since September 2007. It was originally sold to France back in 1991 and lived in southern France to 2001 when it was imported to UK. 2003 a Danish guy imported the car from UK to Sweden and then I bought it from him.
It has now 63000 km on the tachometer.
It has got some chassi mods from RSR (wattlinkage with rod ends, 30mm front sway bar with rod end).

Engine is chipped with UK Autodelta prom and stainless steel exhaust system also from UK Autodelta. I put in a pair of Catcam camshaft this winter. I did this after a trackday last summer (first picture). Chassi was very good but there where no push in the Engine on high rpm;s.
Now things happens also after 5000 rpm

Hi ar4me !

915 kg can you get if you have plastic hood and decklid. rear doors just outer skin (not possible to open). Passenger door like this:

Chassi mods, etc

I usually do corner weight before every raceday as it is easy to adjust. I have around 250 kg on each front wheel and 200+ on each backwheel (without me in the car).

Engine support is made of plastic and rear chassicomponent of a Mercedes (swaybar support)
In this picture You see it better:
