Black engine bay

Post by PietereQ »

Hi,
Has anyone their engine bays painted black? (excluding the black cars of course  ) I was thinking of painting it black but (rest of the car will be bainted with "rosso farina") coudn't find any pics to visualise idea. BTW did gtv6 had their engine bays painted black? I've seen several montreals which did. I'm asking cause mine was repainted twice, so hard to deduce from my car.
cheers,
Pete

Makes any mechanics work a nightmare, all light is sucked up by the black.

Heh I thought the other way around, black would make, dirt/stains etc. less visible, and would make nice contrast to a cleaned engine. Practicality vs. aesthetic 1:1. Anyway you got the point :)

A blacked out engine bay is usually a sign of a cheap colour change where the painters couldn't be bothered pulling everything out before preparing the work and then fitting it all back together again.

It usally also cheapens the value of the car by heaps.

Not a good move...

My car has a black engine bay due to the fact that black is the original color. I have had problems when nuts and tools fell in.
If the motor comes out, I would like to paint it white or grey.

@MD that didn't cross my mind. I do not intend to do it cheap/low quality, and I'm not too concerned abot impact on value, I'm never going to sell her :) I dug the net for a while and that's what I came up with, to give the idea:
