Re: Swapping camshafts

Thanks Mats and 75evo, So, if I follow your advice (what I will certainly do), where can I find the specs of these famous 3.0 S-cams ? I'm speaking about specifications which can be 100 % trusted, not fancy ones, of course ! By the way, it would also be nice to find specs concerning the 2.5 cams tha...

Re: Swapping camshafts

Hello to all of you dear V6 specialist, As you know, I'm currently trying to swap the camshafts on my GTV6 2.5. (from original cam to S cam) The job is nearly completed but I still have tremendous problem to get the timing setup done perfectly. In fact, I can never get all the reference marks perfec...

Re: Swapping camshafts

By the way, I just have a very quick question :

Now my 2.5 engine is near to be completed with 164 S type camshaft in it,
do I have to consider any change concerning injectors and/or fuel pressure
to make it run smoothly ?

Thanks for your reply and best regards to all of you.

Re: Swapping camshafts

Thanks a lot Murray for the values. As it seems to work so well on your engine, I will use it in order to set the valve clearance on my engine. Thanks a lot JimGreek I will for sure buy a new set of springs. You're right, after 20 years of use, the original springs might be a little bit tired. Besid...

Re: Swapping camshafts

OK, it seems that the camshafts I have are 164 S type. The heads are now modified and the camshafts turn freely. Does anyone of you know the exact value of the valve clearance I should now consider when installing everything back in place ? Compared to the original GTV6 2.5 camshaft, the lift will b...

Re: Swapping camshafts

Thanks a lot Mats for you very helpful answer. OK, perhaps I wasn’t clear enough when writing the questions and I will therefore summarise it as follow : a) Is it possible to swap the original GTV6 camshafts with 12V camshafts coming from an Alfa 164 ? (S or non S type) b) Is it somehow possible to ...

Re: Swapping camshafts

Thanks a lot Murray for all these useful information. Based on your answer, I’m suddenly a bit more optimistic regarding this swap. “S” or non ”S” camshaft type, I don’t know the exact type of camshaft I have but to make things clearer, please take a look at the attached pics here below: First, is i...

Swapping camshafts

Hello to all of you, I’m currently rebuilding my GTV6 2.5 L. and precisely working on the heads these days. I have a question in mind which may appear silly to you but here it is : Is it possible to swap the original GTV6 camshafts with 12V camshafts coming from an Alfa 164 ? Both camshafts look qui...

Re: What's this for ?

Thanks Murray for such quick answer. As you know, my car is not a racing car and looks like new. (at least, I try to make it look like) You can see some pictures of it here : http://alfagtv6.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=1071 It has all the internal componants at the right place. Interior fan ...

What's this for ?

I've been working GTV6s for many years but it seems that we can learn something about it everyday.

Looking at the picture here below, can someone tell me what is the purpose of the resistor placed next the cooling expension tank ?

Thanks a lot and best regards.

Re: Radiator swap (75 > GTV6)

Wow, I thought this forum was THE place for GTV6 specialists. What a surpise to see no answer coming from any of you ! My project is going on slowly but quite well and pictures will follow soon. By the way, where is (according to you experience) the best location for the power steering tank in the e...

Radiator swap (75 > GTV6)

Hi everyone, I'm currently trying to fit power steering rack into my GTV6. (kind of crazy challenge I would say) Now, the problem comes from the fact that the radiator hose interferes with the steering pump belt. Do you have a solution that would avoid this problem ? Is it worth changing the radiato...
